What will you do?



We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Buyer – Womens Footwear to come onboard and help us develop fashion ranges for men’s and kids footwear collections.

Reporting to the Business Manager, this is responsible for building and trading  Men’s and Kids Footwear ranges that delivers the strategy, vision and financial KPI’s, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to build assortment plans to drive sales and profitability, in line with Target’s values.


Other responsibilities will include:

  • Range Building – execute the end-to-end critical path, translate customer insights, and market trend into architecture and option plan, work collaboratively with the Planner to ensure option framework     achieves financial KPI’s, and briefs design team on option framework.
  • Trade - identify opportunities and implement actions derived through trade analysis, and leverage customer insights and data to optimise sales.
  • Supplier relationship management actively identify and onboard new supplier partners that will deliver on our quality, design and operational capability criteria.  Ongoing positive management of these relationships is vital to our success    
  • Target Values - create a high performing and engaged culture through leading, coaching and developing, and demonstrate Target’s vision, strategy, and values within the team and across the organization


What are we looking for?


The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Retail with at least 4 years’ experience in Buying / Design / Product Development in a specialty retail environment.  Demonstrated ability to lead a supplier and sourcing strategy is essential as is experience in implementing merchandise strategy and trading business within season along with solid understanding of the total retail landscape and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
