We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Marketing Manager to join our team at Target! This role leads the planning, development and implementation of marketing communication strategy to drive short, long and always on commercial category performance. This role is also responsible for end-to-end project management of relevant category led seasonal events and campaigns, in line with Target’s values,


What will you do?

In this role, you will deliver work with insights and analytics to inform category strategy. You will work across the broader marketing team which includes brand strategy, creative and production on delivering the overarching marketing strategy and lead a team of category marketing specialists to plan, develop and execute the marketing communications.

As a Category Marketing Manager at Target, you will:

  • Leverage customer insights, data and business objectives to develop short and long term category strategy to drive commercial outcomes
  • Identify category gaps, customer audience and behaviour changes required to achieve marketing objectives and sales growth
  • Partner with merchandise (Buying Group) teams as a customer expert, to inform and build joint strategies and execute marketing communications activities in paid and organic media channels on grow, maintain, decline categories
  • Deliver integrated / end-to-end omni-channel key category campaigns and events including supplier funded or retail media opportunity initiatives
  • Provide leadership and coaching within the Category and wider Marketing team
  • The role will also be responsible for reporting insights and results back into the category/buying group teams to support in growth opportunities relevant to the product categories.

 

What are we looking for? 

We are looking for an individual who has exceptional experience in building category marketing plans that drive incremental and sustained commercial growth and is able to translate customer and business insights into effective marketing communication strategies. Retail marketing experience may also include retail media and or supplier funding, relationship and commercial management.

You'll bring:

  • 7+ years in marketing and communications experience in retail, FMCG or major brands
  • Tertiary qualification (Marketing, Media, Communications).
  • Experience in making a commercial impact, that is measurable and scalable with marketing plans
  • Experience in leveraging supplier relationships and associated funding opportunities
  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated marketing projects (i.e. writing briefs based utilising clear customer insights – creative, media, PR, tactical activations, events)
  • Proven ability to work and deliver projects as part of a cross-functional team resulting in fully integrated campaigns
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders through the development, execution and review process of customer communications across multiple channels
  • Experience in leading a team by providing clear direction, coaching and guidance
  • Proven results working in a complex, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines
