What will you do?

 

 

We have an exciting new created opportunity for an experienced Buyer – Women's Specialty(Petites,Curve and Maternity)to join our apparel team.  As the Buyer you will be responsible for building and trading a department range/business group that delivers the strategy, vision and financial KPI’s. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to build assortment plans to drive sales and profitability, in line with Target’s values.


Reporting to the Business Manager, this is responsible for building and trading Women's ranges that delivers the strategy, vision and financial KPI’s, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to build assortment plans to drive sales and profitability, in line with Target’s values.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited:

 

Building Range

  • Execute end-to-end critical path to ensure launch dates are met.
  • Translate customer insights and market trend into architecture and option plan.
  • Establish a clear pricing architecture.Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to establish the appropriate balance of fashion, quality and style to drive transaction growth within agreed option plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the Planner to ensure option framework achieves financial KPI's, brief design team on option framework.

 

Trade

  • Identify opportunities and implement actions derived through trade analysis.
  • Leverage customer insights and data to optimize sales.

What are we looking for?

 

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Retail with at least 4 years’ experience in Buying / Design / Product Development in a large scale fast paced retail environment.  Demonstrated ability to lead a supplier and sourcing strategy is essential as is experience in implementing merchandise strategy and trading business within season along with solid understanding of the total retail landscape and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.Detailed understanding of the product development and manufacturing process is essential as is ability to lead a supplier and sourcing strategy along with strong commercial business acumen, strong understanding of our customer and ability to build good working relationships cross-functionally.

Experience digital/online buying experience as Target accelerates our digital strategy would be highly advantageous.

 

The ideal person will have the following knowledge, skills and qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, business or retail related is an advantage 
  • Detailed understanding of the product development and the manufacturing process 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a supplier and sourcing strategy 
  • Experience in implementing merchandise strategy and trading business within season
  • Solid understanding of the total retail landscape
  • Capability across Merchandise Systems 
  • Detailed understanding of relevant compliance legislation and guidelines
