What will you do?

 

The Kmart Group Store Systems team provides Store technology solutions for Kmart and Target stores to support store trade. These solutions are inclusive of hardware and operating systems such as operator POS terminals, self-checkouts, store servers, mobile devices, networking technology, robots and their associated applications such as POS systems, cash management applications, inventory management systems and many others.
 
As a Solution Architect you will manage the technology roadmap for all above mentioned technology, ensure alignment with standards across Kmart and Target store systems, identify and exploit consolidation opportunities, design new solutions to support strategic programs and to support and mobilise lifecycle investment programs to reduce operational risks and provide future proof platforms to support new service innovation.

 

You will also: 

 

  • Engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders to effectively understand the requirements of our Stores and their systems, to design effective, secure, stable and cost-efficient infrastructure and networking solutions.
  • Assessing new technologies and tools to determine their suitability for the organization’s needs.
  • Engaging with our Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure new solutions are in line with established Kmart Group standards and best-practice.
  • Establishing standards and protocols for infrastructure management, including documentation and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Working with various technology teams across the organisation, fostering effective communication and collaboration to ensure alignment of our Store solutions with broader technological strategies.
  • Acting as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating technical jargon into business-friendly language and demonstrating how infrastructure solutions contribute to overall business success.

What are we looking for?

 

  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing Infrastructure solutions, particularly in the context of retail environment. 
  • Clear understanding of the technological challenges and opportunities within the retail industry.
  • Practiced in identifying, validating (through POC) and promoting emerging technologies.
  • Ability to identify and assess development options and technology risks and in particular the ability to evaluate, analyse and compare COTS products and technologies.
  • Proactive and innovative problem-solving skills, particularly in navigating challenges associated with legacy technology migration. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical, to articulate complex Infrastructure and Networking architecture concepts clearly. 
  • Experience in engaging with business stakeholders, translating technical requirements into business language, and building consensus on the strategic value of solutions.
