As part of our People & Capability function, you'll play an important role in ensuring team members are paid accurately and on time, helping to deliver a positive team member experience through payroll accuracy, compliance and outstanding service.
Working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, you'll partner with stores, People & Capability teams and external payroll providers to support payroll operations, resolve payroll queries, maintain compliance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role focuses on payroll processing, administration and operational support, rather than end-to-end payroll management.
What will you do?
- Process payroll activities to ensure team members are paid accurately and on time.
- Review, investigate and action payroll exceptions, errors and corrections within required payroll timeframes.
- Respond to and resolve payroll and wage-related queries from team members and stakeholders.
- Process employment-related workflows including new hires, terminations, employment changes and cost centre updates.
- Complete payroll audits, compliance checks and reporting activities to support legislative and business requirements.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reporting to support payroll operations and business needs.
- Manage workers compensation payments and associated payroll administration.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to resolve issues and support payroll system improvements.
- Participate in testing and validation activities for payroll system upgrades and enhancements.
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance at all times.
To be Successful in This Role, You'll Have:
- Previous payroll experience within a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate outcomes.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach to resolving payroll queries.
- Experience working with payroll and HR systems, with SuccessFactors (EC and ECP) or Dimensions highly regarded.
- Exposure to Awards, Enterprise Agreements (EBAs) or similar industrial agreements is highly regarded and will support success in this role.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- High levels of integrity, discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Benefits we’ll offer:
- Flexible hybrid working options through our Flex Where, Flex When, Flex Well policy.
- Access to our team member discount program which can be used across our company network, including Target, Kmart, Bunnings, and Officeworks.
- A free OnePass membership offering free delivery across Target and Kmart on eligible product.
- Access to our benefits program, which entitles you to exclusive discounts and benefits in the areas of entertainment, travel, lifestyle, and health, with over 60 suppliers.
- Free onsite parking when you’re required to come into the office.
- We offer inclusive parental leave and ongoing support through our partnership with Circle In for team members of all backgrounds and family circumstances.
- A dynamic learning and support program.
- Kudos recognition program, where you are nominated by your peers to spin a wheel, to win a stack of cool prizes.
- Wesfarmers is Kmart and Target’s parent company, and each year, eligible employees can elect to purchase shares through a salary sacrifice arrangement.
- Great career opportunities across the broader Wesfarmers Group.
