In this role, you will be a senior working collaboratively with key stakeholders to offer a professional and creative textiles graphics service to Target, designing commercial artwork representative of key trends to drive sales and profitability.

What will you do?

As a Graphics Lead at Target you’ll: 

  • Lead and inspire the Textiles graphics function (both internal and external resources) to deliver graphics that are on trend and in line with the overall direction of the business
  • Work collaboratively with Design and Buying to create and design commercial placement and yardage graphics
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify and drive graphics trend through pushing designs, colour, style and printing techniques.
  • Take responsibility of responding to design briefs with commercial, innovative and inspiring graphics and concepts
  • Manage multiple deadlines to deliver print direction and artwork for each quarter, in line with critical path
  • Support with the delivery of trend presentations to sell designs to key stakeholders


Trend Forecasting

  • Identify, interpret and implement graphic trends using global trends and markets to add value through graphic design and sales in line with Target ‘handwriting.’
  • Visually articulate and effectively communicate the graphic direction for the season and stay ahead of fashion trends to ensure our designs are always current and desirable.
  • Present graphic trend forecast effectively to a target audience including evidence to support this trend.
  • Maintain strong aesthetic taste and have an eye for the next commercial volume graphic trend/direction/style.

Ranging

  • Have the ability to interpret range architecture to create commercial, customer focused, co-ordinated artwork across ranges that best reflect Target’s handwriting and taste level.
  • Develop a range of graphics that align with our product lines and brand identity.


What are we looking for? 

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Design, Textiles or Fashion with strong working experience in a Graphic Design role in a fast-paced retail environment with experience leading teams. Demonstrated success designing product that is commercial is essential as is proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Firefly) and Procreate, ability to work across multiple categories and build strong working relationships cross-functionally. Understanding of AI tools is beneficial. We'd also love you to have:

  • 5 + years’ experience as a Graphic Designer in apparel design including garment drawings, textile yardages and placements
  • Graphic Design, Surface Pattern, Illustration design degree or similar
  • Experience in apparel graphic design for kids, menswear, womenswear or soft home is preferable
  • Effective time management of workload and ability to plan and prioritise effectively create volume ranges – one handwriting
  • Ability to work confidently, and autonomously with key stakeholders in merchandise and design/ including Target Asia design team.
  • Highly proficient in illustrator and photoshop as well as the ability to create accurate graphic art
  • Transferable skills with ability to adapt to product types (shape, material, application etc)
  • High level of aesthetic taste displayed in relation to colour, composition, materials, coordination and execution
