This role offers the opportunity to lead visual direction and bring it to life at scale. You’ll shape how Target appears across social, eCommerce and key retail moments, influencing work seen by millions of Australians every week.
You’ll work across campaign development and social, collaborating closely with others to deliver high-quality creative at pace. We value creative judgement, ownership and momentum. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that backs strong ideas, moves quickly, and supports each other to raise the standard of retail storytelling, together.
What will you do?
We’re on the hunt for a or a Digital Art Director / Content Creator to join Target’s in-house Creative Team. This role is art direction first and content creation second. This role is all about bringing our brand to life through engaging, social-first storytelling that connects with millions of Australians across digital, social, and eCommerce platforms.
You’ll combine conceptual thinking with hands-on execution, creating content that’s strategically aligned, culturally relevant and platform-fit. From developing ideas and supporting shoots to editing video and rolling out assets, you’ll play a key role in producing best-in-class visuals that elevate Target’s brand and support commercial goals.
As a Digital Art Director / Content Creator at Target, you’ll answer into the Creative Director to:
Concept & Art Direction
- Concept and art direct social-first and trade-led campaigns aligned to the Target brand strategy.
- Develop strong visual territories, mood boards and shot lists.
- Contribute to on-set art direction and creative decision-making.
- Brief and collaborate with other creatives including photographers, stylists and producers.
- Ensure all final creative aligns with brand standards and campaign intent.
Execute & Create
- Produce static and motion assets across eDM, digital, social and instore channels.
- Shoot and edit content when required.
- Create platform-ready assets across Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
- Adapt and roll out campaign creative efficiently and accurately across formats.
- Deliver high-quality output at pace across multiple concurrent briefs.
Think Platform-first
- Work with the Marketing Comms and Social Marketing teams to understand what performs across Instagram, TikTok, paid media and eCommerce.
- Balance creative ambition with commercial objectives.
- Stay across cultural trends while filtering them through the Target brand lens.
Collaborate
- Work closely with other art director, designers, copywriters, producers and marketing partners.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships across CX, Corporate Affairs and Merchandise teams.
- Uphold visual consistency across all touchpoints.
What are we looking for?
You’re a strong visual thinker who enjoys being hands-on and wants to push retail storytelling into new territory. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and love balancing creativity with efficiency. If this is you then we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll bring:
- 3 years’ experience in art direction, content creation and social-first thinking (fashion, lifestyle, or homewares experience a plus).
- Strong art direction fundamentals (composition, hierarchy, colour, typography).
- Experience briefing and directing photographers, stylists and talent.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma (including InDesign. Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
- Experience in shoot planning and working with creatives from other disciplines (copywriter / stylists), talent and producers.
- An eye for composition, colour, and detail with the agility to deliver at pace.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
- A collaborative, proactive mindset with confidence working to deadlines.
- Confidence producing both static and motion assets.
This is not a purely conceptual role, and it’s not a junior content role either. We’re looking for someone who can lead visually, make strong decisions, and deliver consistently high-quality work at scale.
