What you'll be doing
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Buying Assistant to support our Childrenswear category. Working closely with the Buyer, suppliers and key stakeholders across the business, you'll play an important role in bringing inspiring and affordable fashion products to our customers while ensuring product information, advertising activity and merchandising processes are managed accurately and efficiently.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to the end-to-end buying cycle within one of Australia's leading retailers. You'll support the development and execution of the Childrenswear range while building valuable commercial, product and stakeholder management skills in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilties include:
- Providing accurate and timely administrative support to the Buyer across the Childrenswear category.
- Maintaining product information, keycode registrations and buying plans with a high level of accuracy.
- Raising purchase orders and supporting merchandise procurement activities where required.
- Monitoring deliveries and following up supplier queries to ensure merchandise arrives within critical timelines.
- Coordinating merchandise samples, including requesting, tracking and managing samples throughout the product lifecycle.
- Maintaining the organisation and presentation of the sample room in partnership with the Buyer.
- Ensuring quality control samples are processed and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting advertising and promotional activity through the preparation and submission of documentation, advertising samples and system updates.
- Maintaining advertising information and updating relevant merchandising systems.
- Assisting with the review of promotional materials and communicating merchandise amendments to Marketing.
- Liaising with suppliers, stores and internal stakeholders to resolve merchandise, keycode and product-related queries.
- Processing keycode amendments and supporting in-season trading administration activities.
What are we looking for
- Previous administration, coordination or data entry experience, ideally within a retail, fashion or merchandise environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining data accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Well-developed problem-solving and issue resolution capabilities.
- A proactive, adaptable and team-focused approach.
- An interest in retail, fashion and Childrenswear trends.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
